Michael D. Lewis, M.D., MPH, MBA, FACPM, FACN, is an expert on brain health and the prevention, management, and rehabilitation of concussions and traumatic brain injury (TBI). He founded the nonprofit Brain Health Education and Research Institute in 2011 when he retired as a Colonel after a distinguished 31-year career in the U.S. Army, and now operates BrainCARE, where he fosters better brain health for people around the world, along with working as the advisor to Natural Stacks, a brain health supplement company.
Dr. Lewis is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and Tulane University School of Medicine and completed his postgraduate training at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Johns Hopkins University, and Walter Reed Army Institute of Research. He is board-certified and a Fellow of the American College of Preventive Medicine and the American College of Nutrition. He is a founding member of the Pop Warner Youth Football Scientific Advisory Board and also serves on the Board of Directors of National Collegiate Rugby, where he is also the head of the Medical and Safety Committee. He lives with his family in Washington, DC.
